While most of our projects are for individuals or families, we also understand that each project we design exists within the greater context of the community. Community involvement creates meaning and balance for our office, and it enriches our design process. Not only do we view our projects with the perspective of the client, but also as part of the city, and the green building movement.
RD Architecture is a proud coordinator of the Houston Solar Tour – an event focused on highlighting and developing Houston’s renewable energy industry. Over the past few years, this event has grown from showcasing just a few projects to more than 20 in 2008. In 2009 we expanded the tour presence with a new web site. The city’s involvement and support of this event demonstrates Houston’s progressive attitude toward the future of solar energy.

RD Architecture is active in Houston’s Green building community. By offering consulting services to LEED projects, we share our expertise in green building, and the LEED process.
RD Architecture’s presence in the AIA includes various volunteer work. After Hurricane Ike we helped with assessments of damaged properties, meeting with homeowners and helping them understand how the storm affected the structure of their homes. www.ikehelpcenter.org
One of our greatest passions – some might even say obsessions – is the renovation of original Houston homes. We turn unnoticeable and even undesirable properties into homes anyone would be proud to live in. These projects serve as brilliant examples that even the most modest homes can be graced by good design, and that a little bit of obsession over the details goes a long way in uplifting the home, the street and the neighborhood.
